CLC's ABS Framework Consultation
The CLC's journey in developing an outcomes-focused regulatory framework continued with the following consultations:
- Revised Rules & Guidance Notes: The current regulatory framework has been revised so it is more outcomes-focused and the divisions between mandatory requirements and guidance are clearer. The framework's major policy proposal is to offer an opt-out from the Master Policy.
- Regulatory & Enforcement Policies: Explains how we will continue to encourage behaviour compliant with our regulatory requirements and how we will hold to account those who fail in their responsibilities.
- Licensed Body Framework: Sets out our draft approach to the licensing of Alternative Business Structures, assuming our application to become a Licensing Authority is approved. Any Recognised Body which is owned or managed to any extent by a non-lawyer will need to become ABS.
- Litigation & Advocacy Framework: Sets out our proposed regulatory arrangements, draft programme specification and the resources which will be allocated to ensure we are competent to regulate litigation and advocacy services.
The Consultation Period ended on Friday 17th December 2010. Thank you for your responses.
Yours sincerely,
Victor Olowe
Chief Executive
